Ten years after a motorcycle officer is gunned-down during a 'routine' traffic stop, the case is still unsolved. That is until Kelli Murphy, a bright, newly assigned detective in homicide starts finding evidence and clues the original team of detectives missed, including her father, now retired from the department.
Is she that good, that lucky, or is she getting help from someone?
Kelli Murphy is just one of those girls; too interested in the job to have a personal life of her own. She finshed four years of law school but didn't want to be an attorney. Much to her father's dismay, Kelli decided to transfer to a University that offered degrees in forensics. While finishing her second degree she applied with the Baltimore County Police. She just about did it without her father knowing what she was up to. Unfortunately, background investigators don't miss much, including talking to the parents of an applicant, especially when one of the parents happens to be a lieutenant. With Kelli making her own decisions, 'Lieutenant Daddy' decided to retire and avoid all of the "she's only here because of her father" comments. But Kelli wasn't going to need any help from her father, she was going to be getting plenty of assistance from someone else.
Unexpectedly, and under unusual circumstances, Kelli discovers a gun. As it turns out it is THE gun that killed Officer Nick Constantino ten years ago. Kelli retraces much of the evidence contained in the case file on her own, but she can't do all of it on her own. The assistance keeps coming to her, and it isn't from her uncle, Mick Driscoll. But, Driscoll does play a little part in understanding why this help is there. ![]()
